Poker Sites with Tournament Series

Several major online poker tournament series take place every year and offer players a chance to win some serious cash. These online tournament series are similar to the World Series of Poker except they take place online. With multi million dollar prize pools for some events, these online tournament series are threatening to overtake major live events in terms of prize pools and player attendance.

Each of these poker tournaments series takes place over the course of several days and includes a variety of tournaments. At the end of each series, there is a major final event with the biggest prize pool of all. The final event can last for two days or more due to the number of players involved and its slow blind structure. The wait is worth it, though, because some players have taken home more than a million dollars for winning these.

#1 Poker Tournament Series!

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) is our favorite online tournament series. The most recent FTOPS included 30 different poker tournaments and gave away more than $25,000,000 in guaranteed prize money. The series included a mixture of freezeout tournaments, rebuys, knockouts, turbos, super turbos and the Main Event, with a $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Some of the FTOPS events cost more than a thousand dollars to enter but Full Tilt hosts satellite tournaments leading up to the beginning of the event. On top of that, Full Tilt also has a mini-FTOPS in which each event cost 1/10th as much to buy in to. The latest mini-FTOPS gave away more than $7,000,000 in guaranteed prize money and concluded with a $70 buyin event with a one million dollar guaranteed prize pool.

#2 Poker Tournament Series!

PokerStars runs the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) every year and does a very nice job attracting players. They give away more than $50,000,000 in prize money every year and the event just keeps getting bigger. Last year’s WCOOP consisted of 45 different events and handed a total of nearly $52,000,000 in prize money. This is the world’s biggest online tournament series and the competition is stiff. If you manage to win an event, though, you’ll earn life-changing money.

Texas Hold'em is the featured game in the WCOOP but every poker variant has at least one tournament. The Main Event each year is a two-day event and costs $5,200 to enter. Last year, the Main Event prize pool was over $10 Million and the first place winner ended up taking home nearly $2 million dollars in prize money. There was also a high roller event that cost $25,500 and had a $900,000 prize pool. If those buyins sound a little steep, don’t worry; there are plenty of satellite tournaments and less expensive events.

PokerStars is also giving all new players a deposit bonus to help them get started quickly. If you use the marketing code MIK500 when you sign up for an account, you’ll get a 100% bonus worth up to $600. This sign up bonus basically doubles your first deposit so make that first deposit count!

Online Poker Tournament Series

An online poker tournament series is a collection of special tournament events with big prize pools and lots of players. Each of the top poker sites has its own tournament series and they are all basically online versions of the World Series of Poker. The key features of each tournament series are big prize pools, lots of tournaments and varied game types. Each tournament series concludes with a Main Event that has the biggest prize pool  of all.

These online tournament series consist of the biggest poker tournaments on the internet. You won’t find bigger tournaments anywhere else on the internet and most live tournaments don’t even get as big. The PokerStars Main Event with its $10 million prize pool is the biggest online poker tournament anywhere but it’s also one of the toughest. The other two poker sites have smaller events but the competition isn’t nearly as tough.

In addition to massive prize pools, these tournament series also come with leaderboards that keep track of each player’s performance and reward the highest performers. At the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Championship, for example, the player who does the best wins free entry to every event (except the 2-day event) in next year’s FTOPS. Make it anywhere near the top of the leaderboard, though, and you’ll already have more cash than you know what to do with.
