Tony G Among Winners at partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe tournament series is officially in the books. The three-event series wrapped up on Sunday with big names taking down major events, including a poker player turned politician taking down the Triton Short Deck Event.

Tony G won for the first time in years, taking down the Triton Short Deck Event. Orpen Kisacikoglu took down the Triton Super High Roller for a seven-figure score. Finally, Lucas Zaskodny took down the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Main Event for just over $1 million USD.

Orpen Kisacikoglu Wins €100K Triton Super High Roller

The first of three events at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe event was the €100K Triton Super High Roller event. A field of 32 entries came out for this event, and as expected, the final table was a stacked one.

Kristin Bicknell continued her ascension through the high roller ranks, making this final table and eventually finishing in sixth place. She earned $239,000. Cary Katz of Poker Central made yet another high roller final table and yet again fell short of the victory. He finished in fifth for $306k.

Malaysia’s Wai Kin Yong finished fourth and earned $391,000. Ben Heath has been a familiar face in high rollers this year and finished third in this event, earning $510,000.

Heads-up play in this poker tournament was between Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Orpen Kisacikoglu. Kisacikoglu started with the chip lead but Troyanovskiy took the lead briefly. In the final hand, Kisacikoglu moved all-in on a flop of 8s-3d-2s and Troyanovskiy called. Kisacikoglu showed 10h-8d for top pair while Troyanovskiy showed 9h-8h for the same pair but worse kicker.

The board failed to produce a nine, and Orpen Kisacikoglu took down the title and $1.16 million in prize money. Troyanovsky settled for second and $796k.

Tony G Wins Triton Short Deck

Short Deck Texas Hold’em poker has become popular amongst pros and high rollers and the €25,300 Triton Short Deck drew a field of 27 entries. Only the final six players were paid but some big names made the final table.

Cary Katz made his second final table of the series, but yet again failed to win, finishing in fourth place for €75,500. King’s Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik also made the final table and eventually finished in third place, earning €163,000.

At the start of heads-up play, Tony G had almost a 3:1 chip lead over Yake Wu. Wu got things close but never was able to take the chip lead. Eventually, he was all-in with Ad-Jh against pocket tens for Tony G. Yu was able to make a straight by the river, but Tony G also rivered a full house to give him his first win since 2017.

Tony G is known more as a politician nowadays than as a poker player, but he still manages to put together the random big score. This time around, he won $265,859. Knowing him, he will brag about his win for the next three weeks.

Lukas Zaskodny Wins partypoker LIVE MILLION Main Event

The final event of this series was the Main Event and it played to a conclusion on Sunday. A field of 504 entries came out for this €10,300 Main Event, creating a prize pool of €5 million. The final table sported some big names, including Charlie Carrel, Roberto Romanello, Sam Grafton, Romain Lewis.

Ultimately, it was a lightly known player from the Czech Republic that won the title. Lukas Zaskodny made it heads up with Josef Snejberg for the title, but the pair decided to chop the prize money. Zaskodny has the chip lead and received €806,770 while Snejberg received €718,230. The pair agreed to play for €100k and the trophy.

The pair exchanged the chip lead a couple of times before the final hand. Zaskodny shoved with pocket tens and Snejberg called with As-10d. An ace failed to hit the board, and Zaskodny ended up winning the extra €100k.

Zaskodny ended up winning just over $1 million USD for the victory, easily the largest prize of his live tournament career. Prior to this win, his best score came at the 2017 WSOP Europe where he won the €2,200 PLO Event for his first bracelet. The $108k top prize was his only significant score prior to Sunday’s victory.
