Daniel Dvoress Wins Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas

Daniel Dvoress Wins SHRB Bahamas!

With the Poker Masters now complete, you’d think that high stakes poker pros would take some time off to relax. That’s not the case as many high stakes players from around the world converged on the Bahamas to take part in the 2019 Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas.

The event concluded on Monday at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party which is underway at the Baha Mar Resort in The Bahamas. A stacked final table included current and future Poker Hall of Fame members and was ultimately won by Daniel Dvoress.

Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas Draws 51 Entries

When the Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas was announced earlier this year, some wondered whether players would make the trip. What were they thinking? Of course they are going to head out to the Bahamas to play some poker.

This event drew a field of 51 entries to create a prize pool of $12.75 million. First place for the event paid $4.08 million with the top eight players paid. The top five walked away with over $1 million each.

The final table for this event was a stacked one that included Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel as well as future Hall of Famer Justin Bonomo. Other players making the final table included Seth Davies, Kathy Lehne, Jason Koon, Daniel Dvoress, Steve O’Dwyer, and Wai Leong Chen.

Justin Bonomo, Jason Koon, and Steve O’Dwyer were the first three players eliminated from the final table. This left the remaining five players walking away with at least $1 million. Seth Davies started the final table as chip leader, but wound up finishing in fifth. He earned $1.02 million for his deep run.

Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel started the final table as the short stack and managed to ladder his way all the way to fourth place. He was knocked out when he ran a pair and flush draw into a full house from Daniel Dvoress. Seidel won $1.27 million and moved over $35 million in career earnings.

Kathy Lehne is one of two women that have Aria High Roller titles and was looking to add a Super High Roller Bowl title to her resume. However, she fell just short, finishing in third. She was knocked out when her pocket aces were cracked by Wai Leong Chan’s pocket sixes. Lehne earned $1.78 million for her deep run.

This left Wai Leong Chan and Daniel Dvoress to battle for the title. Dvoress started heads-up play with a 2 to 1 chip lead and never relinquished it. It still took 90 minutes to crown a champion after heads-up play began, but in the end Dvoress took down the title when his A-9 held against J-7 for Chan.

Chan’s runner-up finish earned him $2.67 million. Daniel Dvoress is the Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas Champion, earning $4.08 million in prize money.

Of the victory, Dvoress said, “This is the most prepared I’ve felt for a tournament relative to the rest of the field. I felt really comfortable all day and coasted through it without emotional swings. It all kind of came together in this event.”

Dvoress Wins on Second Bullet

What some may not know is that Dvoress actually busted the event on Day 1 and re-entered the event on Day 2. This resulted in his committing $500,000 in buy-ins to the prize pool. As a result, his win was only about 8x of his total buy-in. While still an impressive score, it really is not that much money compared to the massive buy-ins.

After winning the Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas, Daniel Dvoress has $11.06 million in career earnings. Amazingly, this is only good for 76th on the Poker All-Time Money List. A decade ago, that would be good for at least the top 5.
