Full Tilt Poker recently changed the way they calculate FTPs (Full Tilt Points), so we wanted to write up an article that explains the new FTP system. This article will explain exactly how to earn FTPs, regardless if you are playing real money cash games, sit and gos, or tournaments.

Earning Full Tilt Points in Cash Games

The first way to earn Full Tilt Points (and the method affected by the recent changes) is by playing real money cash games at Full Tilt Poker. For every dollar raked at a real money cash table, ten Full Tilt Points are awarded to the table. In the past, the FTPs were divvied up equally between each player who was dealt into the hand. Now, however, the points are split up according to how much rake each player contributed.

For example, consider that four players were playing a NL Hold’em cash game and a hand was raked $2. Since the hand was raked $2, a total of 20 FTPs will be awarded. Imagine that each player contributed the following amount of rake to the pot:

  • Player #1 – $0.10
  • Player #2 – $0.90
  • Player #3 – $0.00
  • Player #4 – $1.00

In this situation, player #1 would earn one FTP, player #2 would earn 9 FTPs, player #3 would earn 0 FTPs, and player #4 would earn 10 FTPs. This new system of handing out FTPs based on “contributed rake” rewards aggressive players and penalizes extremely tight players, so it should loosen up the tables a bit and make Full Tilt a fishier poker site.

Earning Full Tilt Points in SNGs/MTTs

For every dollar paid in tournament fees at Full Tilt Poker, a player receives 10 FTPs. So, if you play a $10+$1 SNG and a $30+$3 MTT, you would earn a total of 40 FTPs (10 FTPs for the $1 in fees for the SNG, and 30 FTPs for the $3 in fees for the MTT).
