Online poker players have been waiting months for Full Tilt Poker to roll-out their new VIP Rewards Program, and that time has finally arrived. Full Tilt Poker made two significant changes to their VIP Program; both of which will be beneficial to high volume players on Full Tilt.

In addition to the VIP changes, Full Tilt Poker has also switched how they determine a player’s rakeback earnings. Some players will love this change, while other players will loathe it –but the ones that loathe the change are the ones you really don’t want at your table anyway! We already ranked Full Tilt as having one of the best poker rewards programs, and today’s changes will only strengthen their reputation.

New FTP Calculations

The first change deals with how Full Tilt Poker awards players Full Tilt Poker Points (FTP’s). Under the old model, each player was awarded 1 FTP for every $1 in rake collected at the table. Under the new model 10 FTP’s are now awarded to the entire TABLE for every $1 in rake collected, and the money is then divided up based on how much rake each player contributed.

Passive players will notice that they don’t earn as many FTPs as before, since the FTPs are going to mainly go to the aggressive players who are contributing more rake/hand. If you are a tight-aggressive, winning player, you should see an increased rate of FTP accumulation under the new terms.

The Black Card Program

The Black Card Program at Full Tilt Poker is for the site’s high-volume players who can maintain a 100-day rolling average of 500 FTP’s collected per day. Players who surpass this requirement will be mailed a Full Tilt Poker Black Card which grants the following privileges:

  • A 2x multiplier to FTPs earned
  • Access to the Black Card section of the Full Tilt Poker store
  • Exchange FTPs for Cash
  • Personal customer service
  • Access to Black Card tournaments
  • Access to the WSOP Pro’s Choice Suite at live tournaments

Rakeback Changes at Full Tilt Poker

In addition to the VIP changes at Full Tilt Poker the site also changed their rakeback calculation method from ‘Dealt’ to ‘Weighted’. No longer will a player receive an equal share of the rake for being dealt into a hand; now a player’s rakeback earnings are directly tied to the amount they have contributed to the pot. While the ‘Weighted’ method is a bane to tight players who rely on their rakeback for income, it should help loosen-up the overly tight Full Tilt Poker tables by forcing the Rocks/Nits/Locksmiths to start playing more hands in order to get rakeback.
