Sylvain Loosli Wins EPT Monte-Carlo €10,300 High Roller

Sylvain Loosli is your latest high roller winner. Over the weekend, he took down the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT €10,300 NL High Roller to earn €198,610. The event came down to an epic heads-up struggle between Loosli and Georgios Kitsios but eventually, Loosli was able to come out on top for the victory.

Loosli Comes Out on Top of a Strong Final

The final day of play started on Friday with just six players returning and Charlie Carrel starting as the dominating chip leader. Other players at the final included Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel along with Seth Davies, Joao Vieira, Georgios Kitsios, and Sylvain Loosli.

The first player knocked out was Vieira when his A-J was unable to outrun the A-K of Carrel. Seidel was the next player out. He was all-in and flipping with K-J against pocket nines for Carrel. At this point, it looked like Carrel would take down the title easily.

Soon after Seidel’s elimination, Loosli managed to find a double through Carrel and this started a downward spiral for the chip leader. He lost his chip lead to Kitsios and soon he found himself on the rail when he went all-in with a flush draw against pocket aces for Kitsios. Kitsios’ aces held and we were down to three.

Seth Davies ran into a bit of a cooler to hit the rail in third place. At the river, he hit a straight but what he didn’t know is that Kitsios turned a flush. Both players were about even in chips and Davies was all-in with his straight. Kitsios made the easy call with the flush and sent the match into heads-up.

The heads-up battle was an epic one between Loosli and Kitsios with both players holding the chip lead at different times. Kitsios was hyper-aggressive heads-up and Loosli was able to take advantage of this aggression at key times to stay in the match and then take the chip lead for good.

Ultimately, Kitsios was down to just 15 big blinds and decided to shove with K-5. Loosli looked down to A-5 and made the easy call. The board ran out to give Loosli a flush and he took down the title. Kitsios earned €142,590 for his runner-up finish while Loosli earned €198,610 for the victory.

First Win Since Deep 2018 WSOP Main Event Run

Sylvian Loosli is an accomplished player but has not enjoyed much success in over eight months. The last time he had a score of significance was at the 2018 WSOP Main Event. He ultimately finished 18th in the event for $375,000. That was his largest score of 2018 and the last time he hit six figures in a tournament until this latest victory.

With his recent win, Loosli has $2.79 million in career poker tournament earnings. Some may remember Loosli from his November Nine appearance at the 2013 WSOP Main Event. He eventually finished fourth in the event for an impressive $2.79 million score.

His next win of note came in 2015 when he won the EPT Barcelona €50k High Roller for $1.38 million. He also made the final table of the same event in 2016, earning another €332k for a sixth-place finish.

Prior to this win, Loosli’s last outright victory was at the PokerStars Championship Barcelona in 2017 when he won the €10,300 PLO High Roller for $278,366. The French native now lives in England and now looks poised for a successful summer. Las Vegas will be the place to play as several high rollers will run, including multiple high rollers at the 2019 World Series of Poker.
