Poker Central Announces 2019 U.S. Poker Open Schedule

The next leg of the High Roller Triple Crown was announced on Tuesday as Poker Central revealed plans for the second annual U.S. Poker Open. The 2019 U.S. Poker Open will run in February and feature a ten-event schedule. In addition, Poker Central announced that the series champion will receive a cash prize of $100,000 to go with the championship trophy.

U.S. Poker Open to Run from February 13-23

Poker Central revealed the dates and the schedule for the 2019 U.S. Poker Open on Tuesday. The second running of the event will take place form February 13-23, 2019 at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The series will feature 10 events broken down into five $10k events, three $25k events, one $50k event and a $100k Main Event. Below is a quick rundown of the schedule:

  • February 13 – Event #1: $10K NL Hold’em
  • February 14 – Event #2: $10K PL Omaha
  • February 15 – Event #3: $10K NL Hold’em
  • February 16 – Event #4: $10K Short Deck Hold’em
  • February 17 – Event #5: $25K NL Hold’em
  • February 18 – Event #6: $25K PL Omaha
  • February 19 – Event #7: $25K NL Hold’em
  • February 20 – Event #8: $25K Short Deck Hold’em
  • February 21 – Event #9: $50K NL Hold’em
  • February 22 – Event #10: $100K NL Hold’em Main Event

You’ll notice that this schedule features two Short Deck Hold’em events. The $10k Short Deck tournament during the 2018 Poker Masters proved popular and so the U.S. Poker Open will now feature two of those events.

Overall Champion to Receive $100k Bonus

While taking down the title of series champion is a lofty goal, it usually doesn’t come with any extra incentive outside of a trophy. That won’t be the case this time around. The overall series champion of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open will receive both a championship trophy, but also a $100k bonus. This added incentive should prompt some players to play a bit more than they might otherwise.

According to Sam Simmons, VP of content at Poker Central, “The turnout across each phase of the High Roller Triple Crown continues to impress and, with the next U.S. Poker Open champion receiving a cash award of $100,000, we’re expecting that trend to continue. The entire series will serve as a fitting kickoff to a year of even more world-class live events and original programming that PokerGO subscribers will love.”

Naturally, the final table of all events will stream live (via regulatory tape delay) on PokerGO. Also, NBC Sports Network will be broadcasting episodes of the event at a later date.

ARIA Director of Poker Operations Sean McCormack also spoke about the upcoming series via a press release from Poker Central. He stated, “The U.S. Poker Open, and the trio of high roller majors including Super High Roller Bowl and Poker Masters that comprise the High Roller Triple Crown, further solidifies ARIA as the epicenter of high-stakes poker action.

We will continue to bring our guests the most player-friendly poker events in the industry with our Poker Central partnership firmly in place through the foundation of the PokerGO Studio.”

Anyone that cashes in this series, they will earn points towards the title of U.S. Poker Open champion. They will also earn points towards the High Roller of the Year Award. Cary Katz is presently the leader in that event, but that race continues through the 2019 Super High Roller Bowl.

When the U.S. Poker Open was first devised earlier this year, some felt it had the capability to become one of the major on the High Roller Circuit. ARIA and Poker Central have essentially made it a major for their High Roller Triple Crown race, but with added the added perk and potential global exposure from the event, they have begun to solidfy the event as one of the “must play” events for high rollers.
