Last month, partypoker revealed that they expanded their Poker Fraud Team and their job is to seek out and identify potential bots and fraud accounts. According to Patrick Leonard, ambassador at partypoker, “Two years ago it wouldn’t have been possible, but after seeing the security department first hand, the team working there and the tools they are using, I’m very confident now that they can tackle people trying to play against the rules. In my opinion, it isn’t worth somebody trying to bend the rules because, in the words of Liam Neeson: They will find you, they will catch you and they will …. ban you!”

What Are Bot Accounts?

If you’re new to online poker or cheating in online poker, then you may not be familiar with online poker bots. Essentially, online poker bots are accounts that have been automated with software to play online poker. These bots are often cash game bots, but they are also regular tournament players.

These bots are preprogrammed to play poker profitably and can grind for as long as a player wishes to run the program. They almost never interact with other players, and when they do, the interactions are very stoic responses. Most bot accounts never interact.

While it is possible to beat bot accounts in the short-term, it is next to impossible to beat them for the long-term as they play nearly perfect poker. The problem with this is that nobody plays perfect poker and over time, this makes the accounts highly identifiable.

The Poker Team at partypoker is trained to look for irregularities in play, such as an unusual win rate or consistent folds or play that would not be expected from the majority of players. When these patterns are determined, further investigations are taken to conclude whether the account is truly a bot. This is to prevent innocent players from getting shut down over being perceived as a bot. However, with the way that most bots play, odds are that once a player is pegged as a bot, they are guilty.

Partypoker has earned a place as a top online poker operator due to their dedication to providing quality gaming and protecting its players. This is just the latest example of why many consider partypoker to be the best online poker operator in the world.
