David Peters and Jake Schindler Win Aria High Roller Series Events

The Aria High Roller Series continued this past weekend at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. As is the norm with this series, the events drew a small but elite field of poker pros. In the end, Jake Schindler defeated streaking Stephen Chidwick to win the $10k Event while David Peters won the $25k High Roller for his second win in a month.

Jake Schindler Wins Aria High Roller Series $10K Event

The first event kicked off on Thursday with the $10K NL. A field of 28 entries took to the felt, creating a prize pool of $280,000. Only four players ultimately cashed in this event with $128,800 going to the eventual winner.

Byron Kaverman was the first eliminated in the money, falling to Jake Schindler. Kaverman flopped trip threes holding 9d-3h but Schindler picked up running diamonds to hit a flush on the river, sending Kaverman to the rail to pick up $28,000.

Sean Winter was the short stack once three-handed play start and was quickly eliminated by Stephen Chidwick. He earned $44,800.

It was Chidwick against Schindler for the title and while both players were deep, the match ended in somewhat stunning fashion. Chidwick had 6h-3d and flopped an open-ended straight draw on a board of 8d-5c-4d. Schindler held Ah-2s. The turn 5h missed both players and the river fell the Ad.

Incredibly, Chidwick decided to move all-in on a complete bluff. Granted, at this stage, he could have just as well had a straight or rivered a flush. He could have even had something wonky like A-5 off.

After taking a time extension and thinking out the hand, Schindler made the call with his aces. He had Chidwick covered and the match was over. Chidwick just missed out on another title at Aria but earned $78,400.

Jake Schindler wins the event and $128,800. Last month, he made three final tables at the US Poker Open at Aria, finishing runner-up in two events

Schindler is an absolute beast at Aria. He has now won 7 titles at Aria and earned a combined $9.3 million in prize money there. For his career, Schindler has $15.22 in live tournament earnings.

David Peters Wins Second Aria Title in a Month

David Peters has run well at Aria lately. Last month, won Event #7 of the US Poker Open for $400,000 and cashed in two other events. Less than a month later, he won another title at Aria, taking down the $25k High Roller.

The two-day event kicked off on Friday and drew a field of 15 entries, creating a prize pool of $375,000.

Only the top three cashed in this event with $202,500 going to the winner. Sam Soverel was the first to bust in the money, finishing in 3rd for $60,000.

Heads-up play was against Seth Davies and David Peters. Davies had the chip lead heading into heads-up play but a big pot changed the match completely.
Davies had a pair of kings against Qd-Jc for Peters. Peters flopped a gutshot straight draw and check-called bets on the flop and turn. On the river, he hits his straight and checked to Davies who bet out close to a pot-sized bet.

Peters then moved all-in and Davies made the call and saw most of his stack go to Peters. A few hands later, the match was over and David Peters has his second win in a month.

Davies earned $112,500 while Peters took the $202,500 top prize. With his win, Peters now has $19.27 million in live tournament earnings, 16th on Poker’s All-Time Money List.
