Bryn Kenney Signs Sponsorship Deal With GGPoker

Bryn Kenney has become a major force in the poker world over the last four years. Last year, Kenney had a career year winning $8.5 million and finished the year as the GPI Player of the Year. Now, Kenney is enjoying the fruits of his success after signing a sponsorship deal with Asia poker site GGPoker.

Kenney Becomes New Face of GGPoker

Most players in the United States have never heard of GGPoker and for good reason. The site is part of the Asian poker network GGNetwork and not presently accepting US players. PokerNews spoke with Kenney about the new deal and he gave them skinny.

Kenney told PokerNews that he was introduced to GGPoker through pro Kitty Kuo. He and the team at GGPoker got along famously and they quickly made him a sponsorship offer. Kenney is thrilled to be part of the team, stating that GGPoker is “the western face of Asia’s largest poker network, with lots of opportunities for growth, and it’s great to be in a position to both represent the brand and to positively influence the further development of GGPoker.”

According to Paul Burke, the head of GGPoker, “Bryn is a one-of-a-kind poker player, a massive winner who plays using gut instincts as much as anything else, and we’re just thrilled to welcome him to Team GGPoker.”

So What is His Role at GGPoker?

Kenney will obviously represent GGPoker at all events he plays at, proudly sporting the GGPoker patch. However, according to Burke, he will also work to improve the overall player experience. Does that mean he will be involved in planning and designing the site? Details on that were not disclosed.

What we do know is that Kenney plans to play regularly at the site and players will be able to buy pieces of Kenney in future tournaments at no markup. This can be done through the site’s staking feature. Odds are that Kenney will have a lot of staking interest based on his past tournament history.

Kenney is presently 10th on Poker’s All-Time Money List with $21.17 million in live tournament earnings. He’s earned no less than $1 million each year over the last four years and already has $757,465 in earnings in 2018.

GGPoker will be celebrating his addition to the team with a $2,500 Welcome Bryn! Freeroll on March 25. If Bryn is knocked out the event, the lucky player will get a prize package worth $500.

In this age where poker sponsorship seems more dependent on a player having a marketable gimmick, it is good to see that successful players can still be rewarded for superior play. Should Kenney continue his winning ways of the last few years, this should prove a very lucrative partnership for everyone involved.
