34 Players Confirmed for Super High Roller Bowl V

On Wednesday morning, Poker Central announced the first 34 players that have been confirmed for the Super High Roller Bowl V to be held from December 17-19 at the ARIA in Las Vegas. The list is a murderer’s row of poker players including all-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and defending champion Justin Bonomo.

Players Have Combined $551 Million in Earnings

According to the press release issued by Poker Central, the 34 players on confirmed for the upcoming event have a combined $551 million in live poker tournament earnings, with half of the top 10 players on Poker’s All-Time Money List included in the field.

Each of the 34 players on the confirmed list have put up their deposit to secure their seats, meaning they will have to post the entire $300,000 buy-in by the start of the event or risk losing their seat to another player.

Among the players confirmed for this event are all former SHRB champion, including defending champion Justin Bonomo. Bonomo also won the Super High Roller Bowl China earlier this year. A couple of bigger “celebrity” players on the list are Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu finished runner-up to Bonomo in the Super High Roller Bowl back in May.

Over half of the top 25 of Poker’s All-Time Money list will be playing in this field. With the massive prizes awarded in this event, this event gives the perfect opportunity for a player to make a move on the money list, similar to what Justin Bonomo did in 2018. He is presently #1 on the money list and the only player in poker history to win more than $40 million in live tournaments.

Remaining Field to Be Determine Later – Potential Prize Pool of $5 Million

The Super High Roller Bowl V is capped at 49 entrants, meaning that 15 spots are yet to be determined. Normally, there are 26 open seats with 18 being reserved by Aria along with five High Roller of the Year seats.

All five players atop the High Roller of Year standings are on the confirmed list, so it can be assumed that the remaining spots, if filled, will go to special invites from the ARIA. These invites can range from high stakes poker pros to celebrities, businesspeople, and philanthropists.

If the field is again capped, it would create a prize pool of $14.4 million with seven places paid. This will result in four players walking away as poker millionaires and the eventual winner taking home $5 million.

The tournament will be streamed live (with a slight delay per Nevada regulations) via PokerGO during the event. Also, the Super High Roller Bowl V will air episodes on NBC Sports Network at some point in 2019.

This event will also close out the race for High Roller of the Year. Sam Soverel is the current leader with David Peters in second place. Once the event concludes, point will reset and the POY race will become a year-long race.

Who will take down the fifth running of this event? Can Justin Bonomo become the first repeat winner in the event’s history or will another player walk away with this prestigious title?
