2020 U.S. Poker Open Dates Set

Poker Central

Earlier this month, Poker Central announced the dates of the 2020 U.S. Poker Open as well as the kickoff for the 2020 High Roller of the Year. One major change to the High Roller of the Year competition is that Poker Central will be adding additional prize money to the eventual winner.

High Roller of the Year to Award $100,000 Prize to Winner

The first of two announcements from a press release from Poker Central earlier this month announced the commencement of the 2020 High Roller of the Year race. For those unfamiliar, the High Roller of the Year competition awards the top high roller based on points accrued through various events.

The events where players can accrue points towards High Roller of the Year are the U.S. Poker Open, Poker Masters, Super High Roller Bowl, and select events from the World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, and others.

The contest awards a variety of prizes to the top performers but in 2020, the overall winner will receive an additional prize. According to the press release, the overall winner will receive a cash prize of $100,000 for winning the competition. That should cover about a couple of buy-ins.

According to Sam Simmons, Poker Central president, “The High Roller of the Year series is the storyline of the year and we’re constantly striving to improve the experience for players and fans. The stakes have never been higher than in 2020 with multiple six-figures in added value for players who participate in our events around the world.”

U.S. Poker Open Dates Released

Also in the press release were the dates for the 2020 U.S. Poker Open. The event will run from March 19 through 31st in the PokerGO Studio at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. There will be 12 events ranging in buy-in from $10k to $50k.

Players that cash in USPO events will earn points towards the U.S. Poker Open championship. The overall winner will earn the USPO Champion’s Trophy along with $50,000. Like in the past, some of the poker tournaments may be featured on NBC Sports Network. Also, all final tables will be streamed on PokerGO.

The 2019 U.S. Poker Open Champion was David Peters. Peters took down the Main Event to close out the series and coupled with his other results, he was able to take down the USPO Champion’s Trophy. He earned over $1.5 million during the series and received an additional $100,000 for becoming USPO champion.

Poker Central has really expanded the Poker Masters and Super High Roller Bowl in recent months, holding events in London and the Bahamas. They have also announced plans to hold events in Australia in 2020. The new year looks bright for Poker Central and their associated High Roller events.
