WSOP.com to Host $15 Million in Guarantees This Summer

New Jersey will be joining the interstate online poker network in the United States starting May 1. WSOP.com is making huge plans for the upcoming summer and putting their money where their mouths are.

On Monday, WSOP.com revealed plans to host $15 million in online poker tournament guarantees starting on May 1 and running through September. This is in addition to their normal slate of WSOP freerolls and satellites that they offer. The difference now is that New Jersey and Delaware will be able to take full advantage of these deals.

$15 Million in Guarantees Starts May 1st

According to the press release, WSOP.com is planning their “biggest summer ever” with a total of $15 million in tournament guarantees. This kicks off in May and will run through September. Here are a few of the highlights of what players can expect at WSOP.com summer:

  • $250,000 in Sunday Guarantees – There will be a total of $250,000 in combined tournament guarantees each Sunday. This includes a $320 buy-in event with a $100,000 guarantee that will run at 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT each Sunday. There will also be daily freerolls into the Sunday $100k.
  • Daily $10k Guarantees – During the remainder of the week, there will be at least $10,000 in tournament guarantees each day. Some days will see larger guarantees ranging from $25,000 to $50,000.
  • WSOP Satellites – Starting May 1 and running through July 13, players can online satellites for seats into WSOP events at the Rio in Las Vegas. However, this year New Jersey and Delaware players will be able to compete for these seats. Note that only the buy-in is covered. You will be responsible for transportation and lodging.

Players in New Jersey and Delaware Will Be Able to Play for a WSOP Bracelet Online

With the expansion of the interstate online poker network, players from both Delaware and New Jersey are now eligible to play in the WSOP.com bracelet events. In past years, only players in Nevada were eligible for these events.

Here is a quick list of the bracelet events that will run on WSOP.com:

  • Event #10 – $365 NL Hold’em (Unlimited re-entry – 1-day event) – June 3
  • Event #47 – $565 6-Handed PLO (Unlimited re-entry, 1-day event) – June 22
  • Event #61 – $1,000 NL Hold’em (Unlimited re-entry, 1-day event) – June 29
  • Event #63 – $3,200 High Roller NL Hold’em (Unlimited re-entry, 1-day event) – June 30

All events start at 3:30 pm PT.

Online Poker Will Shatter Records This Summer

With the expansion of the interstate online poker network, it is guaranteed that online poker records will be shattered in Nevada and we would not be surprised to see the same in Delaware and New Jersey as well.

Note that if you plan to play on the interstate network, you must register for a new account on WSOP.com. Your old accounts will not work for the combined network. WSOP.com is already holding pre-registration for accounts. Those wanting to retain their old nickname or to register a specific handle should go ahead and do so right away.

Note that the combined interstate poker network is only open to those physically located in New Jersey, Delaware or Nevada. You do not have to be a regular resident there. You can stay at a hotel or casino and still play at WSOP.com.

With the expanded player pools, we expect a number of pros and competent amateurs to make the trek to one the regulated states for the summer to try and build their bankrolls. The results of the upcoming summer should also go far in influencing certain other states to regulate online poker. It should also give an extra push to Pennsylvania to rush efforts to join the interstate network once they finally go online, which is expected to be later this year.
