Poker Central Announces High Roller of the Year Award

The ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is by far the prominent destination in the United States for High Roller tournament action. Many of the top High Roller events in the world call ARIA home and now frequent players in these events will be able to compete for their own Player of the Year award.

On Thursday, Poker Central announced the High Roller of the Year Award, an award that will recognize the top player from the portfolio of high stakes events played at the ARIA each year.

Inaugural High Roller of the Year Race Kicks Off May 31

The High Roller of the Year award was created to recognize the most consistent performers with a variety of fabulous prizes each year. Starting on May 31, players will be able to earn points in ARIA events, starting with the ARIA High Roller Series.

The points race will continue throughout the year and will include results from all ARIA High Roller Series events run throughout the year as well as all events from the High Roller Triple Crown. The High Roller Triple Crown includes the Poker Masters, US Poker Open, and the Super High Roller Bowl.

According to Poker Central VP of content Sam Simmons, “This player of the year system gives the ARIA High Roller Series and High Roller Triple Crown an extra layer of competition for our poker pros. While not only rewarding players for consistent performance in these events, we want to create added storylines and drama to the series that can be followed throughout the year.”

Points will be awarded on every cash in each even as follows:

  • 1st – 100
  • 2nd – 70
  • 3rd – 50
  • 4th – 40
  • 5th – 30
  • All other payouts – 20

In addition, there will be points multipliers applied for the following events:

  • Aria High Roller Series
  • Poker masters
  • US Poker Open
  • Super High Roller Bowl

A full list of multipliers and other information on points can be found here.

Massive Prizes Available for Top Finishers

Many “Player of the Year” awards simply award a trophy and some added recognition for the player who has worked hard to achieve the award. The High Roller Player of the Year will receive a prize that is worthy of their accomplishment.

The person that is able to claim the High Roller Player of the Year award will receive rake-free entries into ALL of the following year’s High Roller tournaments. That’s an entry into every ARIA High Roller Series event and every event in the High Roller Triple Crown series.

In addition, the top five players in the High Roller of the Year race heading into that year’s Super High Roller Bowl will receive an automatic entry into the event. That alone is worth $300,000 and should the freeroll result in a victory, it could earn the player as much as $5 million or more.

Poker Central will also be adding additional prizes and rewards throughout the year. Prizes will come from Poker Central and their partners and those prizes will be announced at a later date and at points throughout the year.

The inaugural High Roller Player of the Year race will conclude with the 2019 Super High Roller Bowl. The winner of that event will receive 500 points along with the top prize of no less than $5 million, assuming that entries stay the same as in years past. (And there’s no reason to believe they will not.)

This new POY race will certainly add another level of excitement to the next year of High Roller tournaments. In addition, events will now stream live from inside the PokerGO Studio located inside ARIA.

Who will be the inaugural High Roller Player of the Year? It will be a lot of fun to find out.
