Matthias Eibinger Crushes Recent ARIA High Roller Events

With the 2019 World Series of Poker upon us, that means that the latest “Summer of Poker” has begun. Some events that have somewhat flown under the radar is the first group of ARIA Summer High Rollers.

The first four ARIA High Rollers kicked off last week with four tournaments playing through the weekend. Matthias Eibinger had a remarkable run through these events, making three final tables and winning two events. His performance allowed him to crack the Top 20 of the High Roller of the Year rankings, but Ali Imsirovic is still comfortably in the lead.

Matthias Eibinger Wins High Roller #7

On Thursday, the first of four high roller events kicked off with a $10k NL Hold’em Event. A field of 24 entries was collected to create a prize pool of $240,000. Just four players were paid in this one with Barry Hutter finishing in fourth and Ajay Chabra finishing in third.

Heads-up play in this event was between Matthias Eibinger and Justin Bonomo. Bonomo would not manage to add another ARIA title to his resume and instead settled for a second place finish and a $76,596 payday. Eibinger walked away the winner and with $101,004 added to his roll.

Byron Kaverman Wins High Roller #8

Friday brought Aria High Roller #8, another $10k NL Event. This one drew 29 entries and a $290k prize pool. Five players hit the money this time with David Saffron finishing fifth, Nicholas Schulte finishing fourth and Dominik Nitsche finishing third.

Jake Schindler and Byron Kaverman made it heads-up and decided to chop the prize pool. Schindler finished in second for $94,158 while Kaverman walked away with the victory and $97,242.

Zachary Clark Wins High Roller #9

Saturday’s $10k NL Hold’em Event saw its largest field of the weekend with 32 players coming out to the ARIA. Matthias Eibinger, Dominik Nitsche, and Jake Schindler all made their second final table of the series.

Eibinger could only manage a 5th place finish while Nitsche finished in third. Schindler once again made it to heads-up play, but this time there was no chop. He and Zachary Clark played it out and ultimately it was Clark that walked away with the win and the $128,000 prize. This was Clark’s first ARIA High Roller victory.

Eibinger Wins First $25k High Roller of Summer

Sunday brought the first $25k High Roller of the summer and this one was lightly attended, drawing just nine total entries and creating a $225k prize pool. Only the final two players were paid with Ali Imsirovic and Matthias Eibinger facing off for the title.

Ultimately, it was Eibinger that won the event, adding $157,500 to his bankroll. This was his third final table in four events and second win of the weekend.

Imsirovic Still Leading High Roller of the Year Race

With his cash in Sunday’s $25k High Roller, Ali Imsirovic extended his lead in the High Roller of the Year Race. He presently has 885 points with four wins and eight total cashes in 2019 for $1.07 million.

Presently, only Sean Winter and David Peters are in striking distance of Imsirovic. Winter has 690 points while Peters has 655 points. Poker Central Founder Cary Katz is fourth with 595 points while Stephen Chidwick is fifth with 540 points.

However, there’s still a ton of poker to be played before the High Roller of the Year is to be crowned. The race goes throughout the rest of the year and includes every ARIA High Roller yet to be played. This summer alone there is still 23 events to be played out.

Now that the 2019 WSOP is in full swing, expect the fields to grow a bit as high rollers come to Vegas to chase the millions that will be floating around. Who will dominate and who will get stuck in massive makeup? We will find out over the next few weeks.
