Justin Bonomo Wins $25k High Roller Day After Winning Super High Roller Bowl

ARIA is the place in Las Vegas for high roller tournaments and that was highlighted this past week by the 2018 Super High Roller Bowl. While the event was marching toward the final table, the ARIA High Roller Series continued with another $25k event. Dan Smith, Ben Tollerene and Igor Kurganov chopped that one to make up for their SHRB bustouts.

After winning the Super High Roller Bowl on Wednesday, you’d figure that Justin Bonomo would take some time off to recharged and prepare for the 2018 World Series of Poker. Nope. Instead, he decided to play the next day’s $25k High Roller and proceeded to win that one too.

Dan Smith Recoups SHRB Buy-in $25k High Roller Win

As the Super High Roller Bowl was progressing toward the final table last Tuesday, Dan Smith and others were trying to recoup some of their lost profits in a $25k High Roller in ARIA High Roller Series.

A field of 51 entries was trying to take down this event but in the end, we saw a three-way chop to conclude the final table. The final table was full of SHRB bustouts, including Bryn Kenney, Steffen Sontheimer, Christian Christner, Sam Soverel, Igor Kurganov and Ben Tollerene.

Ultimately, the final three came down to Kurganov, Tollerene, and Smith. The three appeared to chop the remaining prize money with Smith coming out on top for $305k, essentially recouping his SHRB buy-in.

Here’s a breakdown of the final table results:

Dan Smith – $305,000
Ben Tollerene – $298,450
Igor Kurganov – $250,800
Sam Soverel – $127,500
Christian Christner – $102,000
Steffen Sontheimer – $76,500
Bryn Kenney – $63,750
Matt Gonzalez – $51,000

Justin Bonomo Wins $25k High Roller Day After SHRB Victory

What would you do after winning $5 million? Most of us would take a vacation or at least take a few days off before playing some more poker.

Of course, we’re not Justin Bonomo. The day after taking down the 2018 Super High Roller Bowl, he decided to enter that day’s $25k High Roller at ARIA and proceeded to take that event down for another $350,000.

He let a few others make a few bucks too, including Ben Tollerene who made back-to-back final tables. Ultimately, it was Bonomo against Rainer Kempe for the title and Bonomo took down his second title in as many days.

Below are the final table results:

Justin Bonomo – $350,000
Rainer Kempe – $227,500
Koray Aldemir – $140,000
Matthias Eibinger – $87,500
Ben Tollerene – $70,000

Bonomo Well on Pace to Eclipse Dan Colman’s Single-Season Record

After his win in the $25k High Roller, Justin Bonomo has $14.25 million in earnings in 2018. This absolutely destroys his previous career best in 2017 of $4.5 million.

Amazingly, he has achieved this through the first five months of 2018 and is well on his way to eclipsing Dan Colman’s single-season earnings record of $22.38 million set back in 2014.

That year, Colman won the $1M Big One for One Drop at the 2014 World Series of Poker, accounting for $15.3 million of that total.

Bonomo still has several major events to look forward to this year in addition to numerous high roller events around the world. Both the 2018 WSOP Main Event and the $1M Big One for One Drop are yet to come along with Poker Masters and countless other high rollers around the world.

At his current pace, Bonomo has a great chance of eclipsing Colman. If that happens, he would close the gap between himself and Daniel Negreanu on Poker’s All-Time Money List. Bonomo is presently third with $32.29 million in earnings. Negreanu has $39.54 million and is poised to break the $40 million mark in earnings this year.

Unless Bonomo suddenly forgets how to play poker, its just a matter of when, not if, he will overtake Negreanu for the top spot.
