Jaime and Matt Staples Win Ultimate Sweat Weight Loss Prop Bet for $150,000

One of the most unusual prop bets in recent years has officially come to a conclusion. The “ultimate sweat” weight loss prop bet came to a conclusion on Sunday with brothers Jaime Staples and Matt Staples coming through and actually winning the bet for a cool $150,000.

The bet required the brothers come in within one pound of one other, but in the end they managed to hit the mark perfectly with both weighing 188.3 lbs each.

Staples Brothers Take Advantage of 50-1 Bet for Huge Payday

For those of you that are not completely familiar about this prop bet, it began last year during a session of “The Streamboat,” a streaming session aboard one of Billionaire Bill Perkins’ yachts. Perkins gave the pair 50-1 odds that they could not get within one pound of each other within a year’s time.

The bet had a catch. The pair had to come in within one pound of each other exactly one year from the time of the bet, meaning they had to be weighed in on March 25, 2018 at 5 pm. The pair put up $3,000 for a proposed payday of $150,000.

What made this bet so unusual is the size difference between the brothers. Well-known poker streamer Jaime was 305lb while his brother weighed 135 lbs. This required that Jaime lose over 100 lbs while Matt had to gain at least 50.

Showing their dedication to win the bet, the Staples brothers used fitness guru Mike Vacanti to help them achieve their goals. Over the course of a year, Jaime ended up losing 116.7 lbs while Matt gained 53.3 lbs. The official weigh-in was on Sunday and the pair amazingly came in at exactly 188.3 lbs each, winning the bet and $150,000.

Remarkable Feat Will Pay Off With Lifetime Benefits

This is perhaps one of the most amazing prop bets we have seen from players in recent years. While the money was certainly a motivating factor, one cannot discount the immense value that Jaime has gained from his 116 lb weight loss. In addition to the obvious health benefits he will enjoy for years to come, he has admitted that he is enjoying life much more now.

According to what Staples recently told PokerNews.com, “I feel better than I used to feel even on my worst days. I have earned more respect than I used to have in the poker world. People speak to me differently and give me more of a chance, which is cool. I am more confident in myself and what I am doing. Life is a lot more fun.”

As far as what’s next for Staples, he is going to take it in stride but also plans to have a healthy lifestyle as part of his future plans. As he told PokerNews, “I am sure I want to keep moving forward, setting big goals, and accomplishing them. I also know poker is at the center of what I will be doing and health will remain a constant focus in my life. I am going to evaluate after the weight in as it really feels like a new year for me. It’s like the first day of the rest of my life. I’ll get introspective at Run It Up Reno and get some clarity as to what is next.”
