First Dual Bracelet Winner Crowned at 2020 WSOP Online

Alek Stasiak WSOP Winner

The 2020 WSOP Online continues over at GGPoker. While we haven’t been covering every bracelet winner, we do strive to bring you the big stories from the event. 2011 WSOP Main Event finalist Eoghan O’Dea has finally broken through for his first bracelet after taking down Event #51.

Meanwhile, we have our first dual bracelet winner of 2020. Alek Stasiak won his second bracelet on Thursday after winning Event #52. This came two weeks after winning the Every 1 for COVID Relief Event.

Eoghan O’Dea Wins First Bracelet

Some of you may remember Eoghan O’Dea from his run at the 2011 WSOP Main Event. He ultimately finished in sixth place. Since then, he has finished sixth twice in the $10k PLO Championship in both 2017 and 2019. He seemed destined for sixth place finishes, at least until Wednesday.

On Wednesday, O’Dea took down Event #51: $400 Pot-Limit Omaha for his first career WSOP bracelet. The event drew a field of 2,005 entries for a prize pool of over $753,000. The final table was headlined by O’Dea but also included Jarred “Solosalt” Solomon and Spanish racer Daniel “BoooooBie” Juncadella.

By the time heads-up play was reached, O’Dea had an almost 2 to 1 chip lead over Nital “4TheAnimals” Jethalal. In the final hand, Jethalal was all in with two pair and an open-ended straight draw against a set of aces for O’Dea. Jethalal failed to complete his draw and O’Dea won his first bracelet.

For winning his first title, O’Dea won $100,945 in prize money along with a WSOP Europe package worth $12,000. He also joins his father Donnacha O’Dea as an Irish bracelet winner, as well as the latest father-son pairing to win WSOP gold.

Eoghan O’Dea is presently third on the Irish All-Time Money list, trailing only Marty Smyth and Andy Black. He has $3.21 million in career live tournament earnings.

Alek “astazz” Stasiak Wins Second Bracelet of 2020

When the WSOP online was announced, I expected to see more dual bracelet winners than ever. While the fields are massive, players do tend to get hot in online poker events. While there were some players that ran hot, those streaks did not result in multiple bracelets – at least until now.

On Thursday, Alek Stasiak took down Event #52: $1,000 NL Hold’em for his second bracelet of the series. Stasiak won his first career bracelet a couple of weeks ago after taking down Event #33: $1,111 Every 1 for COVID Relief.

This time around. Stasiak outlasted a field of 2,006 entries to win the title. The final table of the event was filled with players largely unknown outside of Stasiak. Stasiak faced Kunal “Alex_52” Bhatia heads-up for the title. At the start of heads-up play, Stasiak held a 2 to 1 chip lead but quickly lost it.

Stasiak then doubled up when both players flopped top pair, but Stasiak held the superior kicker. From there, it was all Stasiak. In the final hand, his K-Q spiked a river king to outrun Bhatia’s A-4. This gave Stasiak his second bracelet of the series, along with $273,505 in prize money.

Stasiak also received a package for WSOP Europe valued at $12,000. This made Stasiak the first two-time bracelet winner of 2020, a feat that I am surprised took this long.

However, there are still 31 events left for other players to win their second bracelet of the series. Who will win another? Will Kristen Bicknell win her fourth title and take over the top spot on the Women’s Bracelet List? Will Stasiak tie the all-time record for WSOP bracelets in a year? We will find out over the next few weeks.
