Dominguez Goes Back to Back in ARIA High Rollers

As the 2019 World Series of Poker rolls along, so are the ARIA Summer High Rollers at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Last week, we reported on the most recent High Rollers and today we bring you the results from the latest contests.

You may remember that Juan Dominguez won the June 4th $10k High Roller at the ARIA. He followed that up by winning the June 6th $10k, giving him back to back wins. Meanwhile Sam Soverel won his second title of the series while Barry Hutter took down his first.

Juan Dominguez Goes Back-to-Back

Juan Dominguez took down the June 6th $10k High Roller at the ARIA by defeating Matthias Eibinger heads-up. Two days later, Dominguez was at it against, this time chopping the prize money with Ben Yu. The June 7th $10k High Roller drew a field of 45 entries for a prize pool of $450,000.

Only the final seventh were paid with Paul Ayras, Sergi Reixach, Ali Imsirovic, Manig Loeser and Jake Schindler making a few buy-ins. Ultimately, it was Ben Yu facing Dominguez heads-up but the pair decided to chop the remaining prize money.

Yu walked away with $125,318 while Dominguez walked away with $126,682 for his second straight victory in this series.

Sam Soverel Wins Second Event of Series

Sam Soverel took down the second $25k High Roller of the Summer series on May 30th and on Monday, he took down his second title of the summer by winning a $10k High Roller. This time around, only 26 entries were collected to create a prize pool of $260k.

Jake Schindler squeaked into the money with a $26k min-cash while Rainer Kempe added $41,600 in buy-ins to his bankroll for third place. Sam Soverel faced Henrik Hecklen for the title but eventually, it was Soverel for the win. Hecklen won $72,800 for second while Soverel took the $119,600 top prize.

Barry Hutter Claims $10k Title

The most recent High Roller to wrap up was Thursday’s $10k High Roller. This one drew 45 entries with seven being paid. This final was truly a stacked one with Ole Schemion, Sam Soverel, Matthias Eibinger, Cary Katz, and Rainer Kempe all making the final.

Ultimately, it was Georgios Kitsios and Barry Hutter battling it out for the title. Kitsios fell short of taking this one down, earning $99,000 for second place. Barry Hutter walked away with the $153,000 first place prize.

All PLO All The Time Next Week

Next week should be an interesting one as all of the $10k High Rollers will be PLO High Rollers. As such, expect many of the game’s top PLO players to turn out with a few new faces getting a chance to take down an Aria Summer High Roller Title.

The remainder of the high roller events for June are $10k events. Starting July 2nd, the buy-ins creep up to $25k, which means smaller but elite fields for the remainder of the series. However, with many of the larger WSOP events being held around that time, we might see more players with deeper pocketbooks, meaning larger prize pools.

Big Shakeup in Top Five of High Roller of the Year Race

The most recent events caused a bit of a shakeup in the standings for High Roller of the Year. Sam Soverel has now leapfrogged all the way to second place and now has 800 points for the year. He trails Ali Imsirovic by 135 points. Imsirovic now has 935 total points.

Sean Winter has fell from second all the way to fifth as now David Peters and Cary Katz have also leapfrogged him. Peters is third overall with 760 points and Katz fourth with 755. Winter is fifth with 690 points.

The other notable player to watch on this list is Rainer Kempe. He moved up to eighth place with 450 points. Kempe is always a contender in high roller events and a hot streak over the next couple of weeks could shoot him up the rankings.
