Carbon Poker Review
Carbon Poker (www.CarbonPoker.com) has been online for a relatively short period of time -- only 4 years as Carbon Poker and 2 before that as Poker.com. But in that short time, they have proven themselves as a fun and trustworthy site to play at, despite being significantly smaller than the "big boys."
- Location: Australia
- Established: 2007
- Bonus Code: CPBONUS
- Traffic: 5,236 Players
- Mac Friendly: Yes
Carbon Poker is a fairly new poker room on the Merge Network that offers PC and Mac-friendly poker software. The traffic at the room is relatively high for a USA-facing poker site, as Carbon has around 5,000 players online during peak hours. Carbon still accepts USA poker players post-Black Friday, and payment processing appears to be functioning.
If you sign up at Carbon Poker through the links on this page, you will automatically receive a special 150% up to $750 bonus on your first deposit.
for a 150% up to $750 Bonus!
But that's all changed. In light of recent events in the US, Carbon Poker has increased in popularity and consequently, in size. This is because they still accept players from the USA and offer several banking options. These two qualities alone make them one of the better destinations for poker players in 2013.
Carbon Poker Deposit Bonus
Using our sign up links, all new players are eligible for a 150% match on their first deposit up to $750. For every $1 that you deposit, $1 is given to you free.
For the money to be truly yours, you'll first need to "earn it." This is done by playing real money games and earning VIP points. Points are earned at the rate of 1 point per $.10 paid in rake. For every 75 VIP points that you earn, $1 of your bonus will be earned. Bonuses are released in $5 (375 VIP point) increments.
It's important to note that while Carbon Poker offers side games such as blackjack and video poker, points earned through these games do not count towards your bonus.
In addition to the deposit bonus, players also earn entries into the daily $500 new depositor freeroll. This is good for the first 14 days after the deposit has been made.

Carbon Poker Software
Carbon poker's software isn't "out of the box" or anything special. But it does what players need it to do. The software operates lag free, players can multi-table, take notes on other players and check out their hand histories. Players can also change the colors of their tables with many different color/pattern options available.
What is unique about Carbon Poker's software are their emoticons. These are little images that you might use in a forum or through an instant messenger program, but are animated. They don't help you play better poker or anything, but they do add a little bit of entertainment that you won't find on any non-Merge site.
Another thing worth mentioning is that Carbon Poker does allow some 3rd party software such as heads up displays (HUDs). (I haven't tried this myself and only heard about it from a reliable source.) Being able to find a site where HUDs work can be difficult.
Carbon Poker Tournaments
Despite their smaller size, Carbon Poker does actually have quite a few tournaments. Players will find guarantees and satellites to live events, as well as variations such as shoot outs, bounty and freerolls.
The largest of their guaranteed tournaments would be the Sunday $50k. This runs every week and has a buy-in of $100+$9. Players can also buy in for 10,900 VIP points or try to win a seat via satellite which start out as low as $2. Other guarantees also run throughout the week with prize pools ranging from $1k to $12.5k.
There are plenty of satellites too. For as little as $2, players can win seats to large live events like the WSOP, WPT and Aussie Millions. Carbon Poker gives players tons of opportunities to become big winners.
Carbon Poker Traffic
Carbon Poker's traffic used to hover around 5-7k players or so up until the first few months of 2013. While it's small in comparison to the larger sites, it's better than the 100s of other poker sites online. So it's really a half-empty/ half-full type of situation -- it's just how you look at it.
Now that the larger sites are out of the picture, Carbon's traffic has definitely increased. It's anywhere from 8-10k plus around 6pm PST. You can expect this number to rise too over the next few months as the dust settles, players are getting their bankrolls from the larger sites and need a new site to deposit at. I'm particularly excited about this because Carbon offers plenty of games in addition to holdem that could use a little bit of attention.
Carbon Poker Deposit Options
Carbon Poker has plenty of options for players looking to get money off or on the site. The options they offer are as follows: Visa, MasterCard, Click2Pay, MoneyBookers, NETeller, ECO, Instadebit, ClickandBuy, PaySafeCard, Entropay and Web Money.
Carbon Poker offers 2 different ways to get in touch with them -- email and live chat. The live chat feature is only accessible when logged into the backend.
From my experience, the live chat is a fast way of having your questions answered (no matter the site). Carbon Poker's email is slightly on the slower side to respond, but it's still just as good, if not better than the other poker sites.
