In this week’s BestPokerSites.org Weekly Poker Roundup we take a look at Tom Dwan’s and Patrik Antonius’ recent high stakes results, Bodog’s new partnership with a major USA sports team, a proposed USA law that would make online poker deposits even tougher, and the winner of a brand new Lamborghini LP 560-4 courtesy of PokerStars.com. Let’s get into it:
- OnlinePoker.org’s blog did a post on beating poker games as they get tougher, which is exactly what has been happening over the past few years in the online poker world. This blog post explains how once players have mastered the basic poker plays, the real difference between winners and losers is all in the mental game.
- Poker News Daily reports that Tom Dwan won over $1.5 million at the online cash tables at Full Tilt Poker earlier this week, which helped offset his losses at the big live events in London over the last few weeks. Dwan took most of the money out of Ziigmund’s pockets, who continues to have a tough run at the high-stakes games as of late.
- CompatiblePoker.com brings us an update on the USA poker situation, where USA legislators have proposed a new law that would require USA banks to monitor ALL offshore wire transfers (incoming and outgoing), not just the ones over $10,000 like in the past. Poker players fear that this would lead to tougher online poker deposits/withdrawals.
- PokerNewsDaily has provided us with the Full Tilt’s FTOPS XVIII schedule, which was released yesterday. Highlights of this FTOPS include seven Rush Poker tournaments as well as the $600 Main Event, which has a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
- The Cake Poker Blog reports that Isildur1 was back at the high stakes tables this week after a brief hiatus from online action. The highly volatile poker pro had a harsh welcome back as he lost over $220,000 for the week.
- The Casino City Times explains that earlier this week, PokerStars.com acquired an Estonian operational gambling license which allows them to run their poker room in the country without resistance.
- CrunchPoker.com brings us an update on the PokerStars‘ Million Dollar Freeroll, which recently wrapped up and awarded a Lamborghini LP 560-4 to “marciocid” of Brazil.
- PokerStars is also bringing back the Turbo Takedown tournaments this month, which have been a very popular event in the past (CardPlayer reports).
- PokerNews.com reports that online gambling giant Bodog has purchased the sponsorship rights to the LA Galaxy, a Major League Soccer team.
- PokerListings advises that Patrik Antonius had a huge night last night, raking in over $355,000 from online player “WastedPotential”.
That’s it for this week, make sure to check back next week for the latest Weekly Roundup. Also, feel free to leave comments below if we missed any interesting articles from last week.
