A close look at poker’s online winners and losers in 2010 didn’t quite tell the whole story, as Full Tilt Poker’s Draw Games were not measured in the calculations, but now the tracking site www.highstakesdb.com has published the results from these games, and they are quite surprising.

The two most sought after awards in Tournament Poker are the Bluff Magazine Player of the Year Award and the Card Player Magazine Player of the Year Award. I always find it interesting to match-up the two list. Here is a look at the standings up to this point.

The 19th Full Tilt Online Poker Series is set to begin this Sunday. This time around the FTOPS will feature a number of Full Tilt’s latest innovations including Rush Poker tournaments, as well as Multi-Entry tournaments which allow players to register for the same event multiple times.

It’s been a tumultuous period for the sponsored poker players at UB Poker in recent months. With all of that going on some of the other UB Poker pros were sort of lost in the shuffle, including 2009 Card Player magazine Player of the Year Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin.

In February 2010 the Cake Poker Network was flying high, having cracked the Top 10 on pokerscout.com’s cash-game traffic rankings. Unfortunately, they have seen a steady decline since then; a downward trend that continued last week with the loss of Doyles Room.

One of the most overlooked changes in online poker has been highstakesdb.com’s addition of PokerStars to their tracked games. So, with that in mind I thought I would take a look at the 10 biggest winners and losers from January 2011, according to www.highstakesdb.com:

Even though the first durrrr Challenge is still undecided, when the second durrrr Challenge was announced very few people thought it would drag on as long as it has, considering both Tom Dwan and his new opponent, Daniel Cates are prodigious online poker players.

The 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure featured a number of milestones, big wins, and goings-on, and they all happened within the space of a week or so! Therefore, a number of stories may have slipped through the cracks or gone unnoticed by the vast majority of poker fans.

The newest rumor on the poker grapevine, courtesy of www.PartTimePoker.com, is that Doyles Room will be leaving the Cake Poker Network, and perhaps even more intriguing is the possibility of the popular US-friendly poker room landing at the Cereus Network and joining UB and Absolute Poker!

After letting their long-standing contracts with Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth expire at the tail-end of 2010, UB Poker needed to do something big in order to fill those sizable shoes, and what they did was sign one of the most elusive poker pros in the world, Prahlad Friedman.
